About

Hi, I'm Carrie. I am a child of God, wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, princess, Norwegian, Dutch girl, musician, Michigan State Spartan, farm girl, gardener, procrastinator, conflict avoider, perfectionist, chocolate lover, listener.

But this blog is called "Did you hear the singers Roer?" And anyone who reads it for very long finds out there are at least two others who are worthy to be mentioned in an "About" page:

Meet my hubby. Rocky and I met at Michigan State University in 2001 and have been married since May '05. He is an amazing husband, father, teacher, musician. He can be goofy, he can be serious. He's such a hard worker, currently teaching high school math and physics (yep, he's one of those guys :) as well as taking masters' classes and leading the praise band at church. And he can whoop me in almost any board or card game.

And this is my Abby-girl. Born in May 2010, two days after our 5 year anniversary. She is our pride and joy! You'll find quite a few of my posts to be about her. I guess that's to be expected from a first-time-mom.

We are a musical family. I love to sing, and play the drums for our church praise team. Rocky plays guitar and piano and sings too. When I was pregnant with Abby, she would "dance" in my belly when she heard daddy's music. So the name of my blog is a play off from one of my favorite praise songs:

Did you feel the mountains tremble?
Did you hear the oceans roar?
When the people rose to sing of
Jesus Christ the risen one

Did you feel the people tremble?
Did you hear the singers roar?
When the lost began to sing of
Jesus Christ the saving one

And we can see that God you're moving
A mighty river through the nations
And young and old will turn to Jesus
Fling wide you heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice

Do you feel the darkness tremble?
When all the saints join in one song
And all the streams flow as one river
To wash away our brokeness

And here we see that God you're moving
A time of Jubilee is coming
When young and old return to Jesus
Fling wide you heavenly gates
Prepare the way of the risen Lord

Open up the doors and let the music play
Let the streets resound with singing
Songs that bring your hope
Songs that bring your joy
Dancers who dance upon injustice
